“I honored the memory of the victims of the Volyn massacre in the non-existent village of Ostruvki, whose inhabitants were destroyed by units of the UPA (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation),” Moravetsky wrote. The post is accompanied by a photo showing the politician placing the cross.
During his visit, Moravecsky visited the cemetery where the murdered Poles were buried and lit a candle where the church once stood.
The place where the town of Ostrowki used to be is located in the territory of present-day Ukraine, near the border with Poland, specifies RIA Novosti.
The Volyn massacre took place in 1943 in western Ukraine and Volhynia.
