The resolution notes that on July 11, 1943, Bloody Sunday took place in Volyn, “the climax of the Volyn massacre, a genocide planned by the leaders of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists” (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation). . As a result of this tragedy, more than 100 thousand Poles died, and several hundred thousand people were forced to leave their homes, fearing the same fate.
The Seim stated that they strove to honor the memory of all the victims of the Volyn Massacre. It should be noted that the representatives of the Ukrainian people who opposed the crime committed by their compatriots deserve special recognition.
Earlier, Lukasz Yasina, a spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry, said that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky should apologize to the citizens of Poland for the Volyn massacre. He stressed that Ukraine lacks responsibility.
