According to scientists, the diameter of this celestial body is from 430 to 960 meters. It moves at a speed of 14.25 kilometers per second.
The object will come as close as possible to our planet on Wednesday at 11.18 Moscow time. The minimum distance between the asteroid and Earth will be almost 6.1 million kilometers, or just over 0.04 astronomical units: this is a unit of measurement of distances in space, equal to the average distance from Earth to Sun.
Potentially hazardous objects are objects that cross Earth’s orbit at a distance of up to 0.05 astronomical units, or less than 7.5 million kilometers.
The approach of the potentially dangerous asteroid 6037 (1988 EG) to our planet is an interesting event, but the probability of its collision with Earth is very small, said Faina Rubleva, scientific director of the Moscow Planetarium.
Asteroid 6037 (1988 EG) was discovered in March 1988. It will approach Earth on February 28, 2041.
