It uses the motifs of equality, water and peace, the organizing committee for the 2024 Games said in a statement. The torch is made from recycled steel and was designed by Mathieu Leanner. The upper part is matte, the lower part is glossy. Both parts are separated by a golden line. The length of the torch is 70 centimeters and the weight is one and a half kilograms.
It should be noted that each torch will be painted in champagne color. In total, 1,500 of them will be made for the Olympic Games. For the Paralympic Games – 500.
According to the organizers, the curves of the torch fully reflect the Olympic values: the unification of peoples and countries.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
Until now, the International Olympic Committee has not made a final decision on the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus. The verdict is expected to be delivered in the fall.
