“The location where the Iranian president’s helicopter crashed has been located and rescuers are heading to the area,” the statement read.
The Iranian Red Crescent also reported the discovery of the crash site, RIA Novosti reports.
Recall that on Sunday Iranian media reported that the helicopter carrying Raisi made a forced landing near the border with Azerbaijan. Joining him in the car were Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and other senior officials.
Rescue teams reached the emergency area and launched a search operation.
It later emerged that a Turkish drone detected a heat source at the site of the alleged helicopter crash. The IRGC said the source could be aircraft debris.
