Responding to journalists’ questions at a news conference, Putin said he had spoken by phone with the commander of the 58th Army and several other heads of sectors in the NVO zone about the situation at the front.
The president stressed that Ukrainian troops were stopped and forced back wherever they tried to attack. According to Putin, the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered heavy losses in both manpower and equipment. So, since June 4, Ukraine has lost 415 tanks, and two-thirds of the equipment lost in battles is Western. After the losses, the Ukrainians take care of the equipment, advance on foot.
In general, there are no serious changes in the operational situation at the NMD: “the enemy has withdrawn assault units” for recovery, the Russian leader said.
According to him, the military units under the leadership of General Andrei Mordvichev advanced over the past day “along the boards we need,” the head of state said, – 15 km in front and 4 km in depth.
“In the sector of General Mordvichev, our troops not only maintain the defense, but also carry out attacks,” Putin said.
