Let’s be honest, Ralph Lauren wouldn’t be Ralph Lauren if he didn’t bring the house’s signature pieces and, of course, supermodels to the runway. Fortunately, the reason for such decisions is very important: this is the designer’s first collection after a four-year hiatus from the New York Fashion Week calendar (the show was last held in September 2019). .
For a noisy return, Lauren chose an empty warehouse outside the Brooklyn Navy Yard and started the show in an absolutely American fabric: denim, embroidered with sequins and beads. Immediately afterwards we saw the same Laurentian glamour: black jackets and black military jackets combined with gold bars in the form of a galaxy of dresses, polos and baggy pants. These outings echoed gypsy looks: headbands and hips, skirts with spectacular slits and painted tops, pajama pants, fluid dresses with bright prints and belts with large buckles. At the end of the show, Natalia Vodianova in a gold cape and a multi-tiered necklace and Christy Turlington in a one-shoulder gold dress are like two extremes of the same essence.
