Renfe increases its capital in the startup Imotion Analytics by 10% and now reaches a 20% stake. The railway company will be part of the management body of the emerging company, whose technological base is Artificial Intelligence (AI), as reported this Thursday by Renfe. After acquiring 10% last March, they have decided to take another step in investing in this technology.
The company selected Imotion Analytics after an “intense evaluation” process, carried out in the first half of 2022, of all the startups participating in all the calls for Renfe’s global startup acceleration program, TrenLab.
Hybrid innovation model
It represents an important step forward for Renfe towards what is called ‘Corporate Venture Capital’, a hybrid innovation model in which a large company invests in a startup to access its innovation and technology by supporting its growth and development. Both companies have been working together to create synergies in a context of innovation, talent acquisition and new business models.
