Information about the incident was received by the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Team of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on the evening of Saturday, August 24.

“While descending from the top of Mount Fisht, a man fell into a crevasse of the Big Fishtinsky glacier,” the press centre of the emergency department told Komsomolskaya Pravda. “As a result of the fall, a 50-year-old resident of Adygea was injured in the arms and head and could not move independently.”

The use of aviation at that time was impossible due to the weather conditions.

Then rescuers from the Adygea branch of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry moved to the scene of the emergency.

“At the same time, a doctor from the Adyghe search and rescue team left the Fisht shelter to provide first aid to the victim,” the operational report reads. “He located the injured man and provided him with first aid.”

(It turned out that the victim suffered an open head injury, an open fracture of the elbow joint, a leg injury, various abrasions and bruises.)

After some time, Adyghe specialists came to the unfortunate tourist.

“Due to the victim’s serious injuries, rescuers have once again requested assistance from the Ministry of Aviation Emergency Situations for urgent evacuation to a medical facility.”
