However, restrictions have been introduced in Moscow, as well as throughout the country, for scooters for several years. And Spiridonovka Square was not the first place in the city where scooters are prohibited. The same rule, for example, also applies to the Hermitage Garden, located nearby, where traffic is prohibited both in rental applications and on the park’s own website. Visiting rules prohibit movement there on scooters, bicycles and skates, even if they do not have electric traction.
But in Sokolniki Park, if you believe in apps, you can ride everywhere. But in practice, this is not the case – there are pedestrian areas where signs prohibit movement on scooters and bicycles. But on the bike paths, which are quite a few in the park, you can walk without problems. The restrictions are logical: there are a lot of people in the park on weekends, and scooters in the crowd will inevitably lead to collisions.
In addition, so-called slow zones operate throughout Moscow: electric scooters for rent automatically prevent them from accelerating above a certain speed when entering them. Most of the time, in such areas, you can’t go more than 15 km per hour, but sometimes you won’t be able to move more than 10 km per hour. For example, in the central part of Gorky Park, where there are the most pedestrians, scooters travel at no more than 10 km per hour. And on bike paths you can speed up to 15 km per hour.
