As usual, the former Beatle invited good old friends to his Los Angeles home studio.
Rewind Forward was composed by Ringo Starr with his engineer Bruce Sugar. Paul McCarthy gave his former colleague the hit Feeling The Sunlight and Toto guitarist Steve Lukather wrote Shadows on the Wall.
“Fast-forward” is what I told myself about this release,” Ringo Starr himself announced on the mini-album.
He explained: “Yeah, it sounds great, although it may not make sense. But I just realized that sometimes when you want to move forward, you have to go back first.”
Yes, the album has warm, Beatles intonations again. And, as in the famous 1967 Livepool Four hit, With a Little Help from My Friends, Ringo Starr was back singing in the company of old friends and with “a little help” from him.
The CD also features Joe Walsh, Mike Campbell, Ian Hunter, Weston Wilson, Lance Morrison, Matt Bissonnett, Torrance Klein, Kipp Lennon, and Marky Lennon. They all got a job.
