In France, for the fifth night, the riots have not abated, involving thousands of immigrants and young local radicals who have joined them. The formal reason for the riots was the death of 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. A native of Algeria worked as a car courier and was stopped by the police for violating traffic regulations. However, he did not want to explain himself and tried to leave, but the policeman who was holding him at gunpoint managed to shoot, hitting the teenager instantly.

The news spread instantly among the immigrant communities and a ruthless French revolt began. But by no means meaningless. The crowds that poured into the streets quickly forgot about the tragedy in Nanterre and the protests turned into pogroms and robberies. In recent days, criminals have ruined more than 200 grocery stores and shopping centers, taking everything they had on hand. Some 250 bank branches were attacked, from which ATMs were removed. What could not be bagged caught fire: 577 cars burned and 74 buildings burned down. The police, reinforced with armored vehicles, tried to stop the bacchanalia. However, the protesters threw stones and firecrackers at law enforcement officers, 45 police officers were injured. The mayor of the city of L’Ail-les-Rose said his house was hit by a car and then they tried to set it on fire. His wife and his son were injured.

What is known about the detainees
On Saturday night alone, 719 people were detained, in total, more than 3,000 “rebels” were arrested during the riots. But the situation has not yet been controlled. French President Emmanuel Macron was even forced to cancel his visit to Germany. His rating is declining rapidly, because when everything was just beginning, instead of taking drastic measures, he went with his wife to the Elton John concert, and then made all his fellow citizens laugh by stating that the reason for the party was in … video games, which they say motivated young people to violence.
Meanwhile, the head of the Ministry of Justice, Eric Dupont-Moretti, threatened the parents of those pogromists under the age of 15 with fines of up to 30,000 euros or 2 years in prison for the acts of their children.

French natives, who until recently took to the streets by the thousands to oppose pension reform, do not seem to share the anger of the teenage immigrants. Judging by the comments in the media, some of the country’s residents are scared, some are angry and ask who will be responsible for the damage. The sympathies of an ordinary Frenchman can be judged by the following fact: almost 500 thousand euros of donations were collected in favor of the family of the policeman who fired the fatal shot, and donations for the mother of the murdered amount to only 76 thousand euros.
Politicians demand a decision from Macron, who does not take harsh measures to suppress the protests, and blame France’s migration policy for what is happening. Former presidential candidate Eric Zemmour believes the country is on the brink of an ethnic civil war. “All French people see what crazy immigration has led to in the last 40 years,” he said.

On Sunday, the riots spread to the Switzerland of Lausanne. According to the local police, more than 100 people participated in them, who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the policemen. Only two of the seven detainees are Swiss and only one is an adult. Among the detainees are three girls of Portuguese, Bosnian and Somali origin, as well as young men of Georgian and Serbian origin.
