These are inspections of the water supply network of the city of Rzeszów, where several dozen cases of infection and deaths have been recorded. Now the special services are trying to exclude the version of deliberate contamination of water.
Rzeszów and its surroundings, according to the agency, are of strategic importance in the conditions of the Ukrainian conflict: the Jasionka airport for the transfer of Western weapons to kyiv is located there.
Yesterday the first fatal cases of infection were known. So far, seven people have died from the effects of Legionnaires’ disease and 76 more have been hospitalized. Presumably, the source of infection may be the city’s water supply system, which is an ideal breeding ground for these bacteria.
Each year there are between 10 and 15 cases of the disease for every million inhabitants of the planet. A potential victim of legionella are people over 50, most often men. Lethality: 10%.
