Roman Kostomarov at the beginning of 2023 actively performed in ice shows. At some point, he tugged at his shoulder. In order for the skater to continue skating, he was injected with an anti-inflammatory.
“What it does is it relieves the temperature, the person doesn’t feel pain. I think he then got pneumonia. Because the temperature drifted, there were no symptoms other than a cough. I think that brought him to such a state in 10 days ” – shared Alexander Zhulin.
According to him, everything got worse with the bath. “January 10 celebrated the end of Christmas trees. There was a bathhouse. All this led to the disease like a snowball,” the coach told Boris Korchevnikov on the air of the Life and Fate program on the channel Russia 1.
When Roman’s friends found out that he had survived the amputation, they were all shocked. “He is a true hero. It was a shock to all of us when we found out about Rome… A cold with limb amputation. Then I was told that his chances of survival were only two percent,” Zhulin added.
Now Kostomarov is in rehab. His legs were amputated up to the knee. There are no brushes in the hands. “He is alive, he is still the father of his children, the husband of Oksana, who helps him,” Alexeydr summed up.
