As already reported, communication with him was interrupted on the night of June 19, about two hours after the start of the dive towards the sunken Titanic. As you know, the liner is located at a depth of 3800 meters, about 600 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland.
And on the night of June 22, it became known that the remains of the tourist bathyscaphe “Titan” were found in the Atlantic Ocean. Rescuers hoped that the five people inside might have survived. However, according to Western media, the nature of the fragments showed that the small submersible crashed almost instantly. It is possible that at the very moment when contact with him was lost.
Apparently, the tragedy occurred due to some kind of catastrophic failure and the subsequent “collapse” of the body of the apparatus: for every kilometer of depth, the pressure increases by about 100 atmospheres. The device’s crew was pronounced dead on June 23.
Remember: the Kanopus-V series satellites are designed for highly detailed remote sensing of Earth. They belong to small spacecraft and have a mass of about 500 kilograms. They will operate in a sun-synchronous orbit, at an altitude of approximately 510 km.
“Kanopus-V” as a whole is a space complex for operational monitoring of emergency situations. High tide, ice drift, forest fires… Its main objective is information support for emergency response. But there are also additional applied tasks related to operational observation of the earth’s surface.
