In the modern world, the fight against financial fraud and crime is complicated by the fact that the theft of funds occurs without physical contact, the interaction between the criminal and the potential victim takes place in virtual space or using means of communication.
Financial technologies, which are experiencing explosive growth, make it possible to make dozens of cross-border transfers around the world in just a few seconds. These convenient information and financial technologies are actively used by fraudsters, drug dealers, terrorists, corrupt officials, human and arms traffickers and other criminal elements. The investigation of the crimes committed by them, the unraveling of “financial traces” is impossible without cooperation between the competent state agencies of different countries whose jurisdiction affects these crimes.
Therefore, part of the business program of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which opens tomorrow in St. Petersburg, will be a round table on International Cooperation in the Field of Financial Security.
Its participants will find opportunities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of financial security, anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, and will discuss ways of working preventively, including with young people, to explain ways of committing crimes, including fraud.

The sector of shadow web marketplaces has expanded, the number of duplicate sites disguised as originals is growing, cases of theft of bank card funds and sending spam by email for this purpose multiply, the use of cryptocurrencies by terrorist groups as one of the safest forms of self-financing is gaining momentum. The fight against the financing of terrorism is one of the key areas on the agenda of international cooperation against terrorism,” Alexei Lyzhenkov, Deputy Director of the Department of New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on the eve of the forum.
