In the period from 2018 to 2020, the defendants continuously gave money as a bribe to the pathologist of the city hospital. To do this, the latter provided the businessman with information about the deceased. In addition, the pathologist received funds from him for each contract concluded for the provision of funeral services with relatives of the deceased and for organizing the storage of bodies in the refrigerator of the pathological department. Thus, the health worker was transferred funds in the amount of more than 1.7 million rubles.
A criminal case was initiated under article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (personally bribing an official for committing obviously illegal actions, on an especially large scale).
The court considered the evidence gathered sufficient, found the head of the funeral company guilty and sentenced him to eight years in prison with a maximum security penal colony and a fine of five million rubles to the state.
Earlier, a pathologist from Samara was sentenced to 8.5 years for accepting a bribe in the amount of more than three million rubles for selling information from the deceased under article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a large and especially large-scale bribe), the Investigative Committee of the RF Investigative Committee for the region said in a statement. Both verdicts have not yet entered into force.
