According to RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the university, such medical nutrition (enteral mixtures) is intended for seriously ill patients after operations on the gastrointestinal tract.
Currently, the enteral mixtures used in national medicine are almost entirely imported. Furthermore, as the experts explain, its creation is a complex, science-intensive process that is beyond the power of companies in the conventional food industry.
The development of a national import substitution technology was carried out at the Center for Research and Production of Healthy Nutrition Technologies of the UOPE.
According to Inna Simakova, director of the center, several tasks had to be solved when creating medical nutrition. The resulting product should be easily absorbed by the intestines, have the viscosity of water, and provide the nutrient composition as in a complete diet.
At the same time, most of the imported mixtures have good solubility, but are often poorly absorbed and cannot fully compensate for the necessary biological activity. They are also expensive.
The imported mixtures, according to the researcher, are obtained by creating a composition from individual nutrients. Saratov scientists have proposed their own technology. According to Simakova, it is based on taking advantage of the “natural potential of raw materials and food products”, for which an original processing method was created.
Clinical trials of the developed line of home medical products are currently underway. The results obtained above confirmed that the components of the mixtures meet the necessary requirements and are well absorbed by the body.
