Screen Actors Guild of America launches temporary accommodations program to work during strike

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 09:57:45

In the United States, the biggest strike of Hollywood workers continues. In the spring, the writers expressed their dissatisfaction with the current situation, and in mid-July, the actors joined them. According to Deadline, the union has launched a temporary agreement program. Thanks to them, independent employees in the sphere can resume their activities.

These conditions apply only to those filmmakers who did not enter into direct agreements with the producer alliance as part of the development of a particular project. To make it easier for actors to navigate, the Guild has compiled a list of movies and series that are allowed to continue production. The list includes A24’s Mother Mary and I Dream of Unicorns, the upcoming season of Apple TV+’s Tehran, Guy Ritchie’s new untitled film, and more.

In addition, the union highlighted the names of those of its members who are allowed to work. The documents name Anne Hathaway, Dakota Fanning, Glenn Close, James Badge Dale, Ben Foster, Graham Greene and Melissa Leo. However, there is one important clarification: Actors only have the right to participate in auditions or discuss the terms of their contracts, but rehearsals, site visits and other ways of providing services are still considered a violation of the strike order.

By the way, the protests affect not only the manufacturing segment. Recently, the founders of the Emmys decided not to hold the awards ceremony on September 18. For the first time since 2001, the TV award intends to reschedule the event. According to the preliminary expectations of the organizers, it can take place in winter.
