There are around 4 thousand emission points for this service in the country; Russians often send important documents through this service. So will hundreds of thousands of packages disappear now?
Komsomolskaya Pravda decided to check this information as part of a joint project with Noodles Media, which aims to expose false information. And it turned out that SDEK customers do not need to worry about the security of their packages. Although, indeed, the company was the target of a powerful attack by hackers.
The company reported on the problems associated with the delivery of packages on its Telegram channel on May 27: “Due to a technical failure, the SDEK application and the website are currently not working, and it is also impossible to receive and issue packages at the point. collection. period.” But the service assured customers that all packages will be stored and delivered once the technical problems are resolved. “If necessary, the storage period at the collection point will be extended,” underlines the delivery service .
The news that SDEK will no longer be able to operate was denied on May 28 by SDEK communications director Misha Berggren in an interview with RIA Novosti:
“Collection points (order issuance points – Ed.) of SDEK will resume issuing items no later than tomorrow, May 29. “We are working to fully restore service, but have also prepared backup plans.”
And on May 29, a message appeared on the service’s website:
“Dear customers, our website is working again, but for now only partially. We continue to resolve the remaining issues and are working to restore stable functionality of all features as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience and understanding.”
Can customers who suffered the suspension of SDEK services claim compensation for damages through the courts? Experts believe it all depends on how the hacker attack is resolved and whether there will be losses for customers. But the deadlines for suspending service are quite short, so such cases are unlikely to have serious judicial prospects.
