To reach its destination, the plane of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry had to fly over hostile countries, so the trip took almost 12 hours. At the airport, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry was received by Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, and Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya.
The minister’s agenda will be very busy in the coming days. Already on Wednesday he will speak at a meeting of the Security Council of an international organization and will participate in various events within the framework of the BRICS, the CSTO and the SCO. In addition, the minister will hold several bilateral meetings.
In total, Lavrov will hold more than two dozen such negotiations these days with colleagues from different countries and representatives of international organizations. The final chord will be the speech of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry at the general political debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, scheduled for September 23.
According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, in her speech the minister “will present in detail Russia’s principled approaches to the most important global challenges, including the further development of the system of international relations with a view to to the formation of a truly just multipolar world order based on the objectives and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”
