Shoigu announced the enrollment of 1,500 SVO heroes in military universities

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, more than 15,000 freshmen have enrolled in military universities this year. Many of them managed to distinguish themselves in a special military operation.

“Of those enrolled in universities, 1,500 participants in a special military operation, many, or more precisely, most, have military degrees,” Shoigu said.

The news is excellent, as it indicates that the Russian Defense Ministry is concerned about training officers with combat experience who are motivated to continue serving in the military.

The minister also said that the training of officers for the Armed Forces on the basis of the Donetsk Higher Combined Arms Command School was resumed this year.

“The interest of young people in the educational institutions of the Navy, the Strategic Missile Forces and the flight universities of the Aerospace Forces has grown significantly. At other universities, we still have the same high competition as before. In pre-university military educational institutions, the competition was up to 11 people per place,” said the head of the military department.

Shoigu also announced the opening of the Irkutsk Suvorov School and wished the officers, cadets and students success in their studies and perseverance in mastering new knowledge.

Sergei Shoigu recalled that the International Military-Technical Forum “ARMY-2023” opens on August 14. At the Patriot Exhibition and Congress Center in Kubinka near Moscow, 1,500 companies will present around 28,000 samples of military and dual-use items. The heads of 108 defense departments have been invited to the forum. National military-technical developments that have been tested in a real combat situation will be widely presented. The scientific and business program includes more than 260 events to discuss current aspects of the development of the military-industrial complex, military and military-technical cooperation. The Ministry of Defense plans to sign contracts totaling more than 433 billion rubles.

Simultaneously to the forum, the XI Moscow Conference on International Security will take place.

According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, its program includes round tables on issues of a special military operation and issues of global stability in the context of the formation of a multipolar world, interaction between the defense departments of different countries, as well as aspects regional security forces in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa.
