The elections took place on Thursday 4th July, and the Labour Party won a landslide victory.
Sunak said he was heading to London where he would make an official announcement.
“I will tell you the results before I leave the post of prime minister, for whom I gave everything,” the politician told Sky News.
Sunak said it had been a “difficult night” for his party and the British people had delivered a “sobering verdict”.
Keir Starmer will be Britain’s new Prime Minister. He will also form the government.
