Video recording of the operations will be made if requested by the patient or persons representing their interests. Video recordings of operations must be stored for at least 30 days and provided to investigative or other structures investigating disputes about the quality of the treatment provided. If the rule is violated, the clinic will be fined 5 million won (about $3,800).
There are exceptions to the rule in the event that the operation had to be performed urgently and there were no free operating rooms with video cameras and the patient’s life and health were in danger.
The new amendments also provide for hefty fines of 50 million won (about $38,000) if video recordings of transactions are made public, deliberately damaged, or their content is otherwise distorted.
