The Spaniards received an average of 1,822 euros per month during the past year. Despite reaching “historical highs”, this figure was 20.9% lower than that of the European Union (EU), where it rose to 2,302 euros per month, a difference of 480 euros per month in absolute terms.
This is one of the conclusions of the ‘IX Adecco Annual Monitor on Salaries’, which includes Efe, which indicates that Spain continues in an intermediate situation in the EU, since there are 15 European countries that obtained average salaries that are lower than that of Spain and eleven with higher salaries.
The highest and lowest salaries in the EU
The countries with the highest salaries are Luxembourg (3,713 euros), Denmark (3,573 euros), Germany (3,148 euros), Ireland (3,051 euros), Belgium (3,007 euros) and the Netherlands (2,964 euros), while the lowest correspond to to Bulgaria (650 euros), Romania (796 euros), Hungary (852 euros), Croatia (903 euros) and Poland (941 euros).
The report indicates that the wage gap between Spain and Germany reached 1,326 euros per month in 2022, which implies that Spanish remuneration was 42.1% lower than that of Germany, while the difference with France stands at 752 euros. per month, 29.% lower.
