“There is a process for NATO countries to invoke Article 5. We are currently not in such a situation,” TASS reports its comment on the statement by the Polish authorities about the alleged violation of the border by Belarusian helicopters.
Miller declined to comment on the incident.
“Let’s let the Polish government talk about the incident. It was on their territory,” he concluded.
It should be remembered that on August 1, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced that it had summoned the Belarusian Chargé d’Affaires for two helicopters that allegedly “violated Polish airspace.” Subsequently, the Polish Defense Minister, Mariusz Blaszczak, ordered an increase in the concentration of troops and combat helicopters on the border with Belarus.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said that Poland and the West as a whole must understand that Moscow and Minsk are ready to repel any threat, regardless of its nature and scale. Gryzlov drew attention to the increased military presence of Poland on the border with Belarus. We are talking about at least a thousand soldiers and almost 200 teams from two mechanized brigades. They will reinforce units already along the border.
