Stone Island will hold an exhibition on the history of the brand

Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 06:54:01

Stone Island will bring an exhibition on the history of the brand to South Korea. The Italian brand’s archives will be on display from September 5 to 9 during the Frieze Seoul International Art Fair and Seoul Fashion Week. WWD writes about it.

The “Selected Works: The Stone Island Archive” exhibition will take place at Layer 41 and will be the brand’s largest ever installation in Asia. It will cover four decades of the brand and talk about the high technologies that are used in the production of products.

“Stone Island is my life and my obsession. When I enter the historical archives I am very moved, because I see my whole life in the clothes that Stone Island has created during its 41 years of history”, says Carlo Rivetti, director of the brand.

The Seoul exhibition will feature more than 70 key pieces dating back to the first collection designed in the spring of 1982.

The space will be divided into thematic zones and the exhibition itself will be interactive: visitors will be able, for example, to touch heat-sensitive products and see how their appearance changes when heated.

In the main room, 45 archival objects are exhibited that represent important milestones in the development of the company. For example, the Tela Stella cape from the first Stone Island collection in 1982 and the fall 1987 jacket made of PVC coated on a shiny nylon base.

Recall that earlier another fashion house, Gucci, announced an exhibition dedicated to the history of the fashion house. The Cosmos exhibition begins in London on October 11.
