Svetlana Tverdokhleb: I have been teaching English for 24 years – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The teacher watched the meeting on the screen excitedly.

“I was just full of pride and a sense of belonging to everything that was happening. And as soon as the presidential lesson ended, Christina sent me this video message,” says the teacher.

“I simply have no words! I have an autograph from the president of our country, two handshakes with him and a photograph. I thank all the teachers and the administration of the high school for being here. If it were not for you, none of this would have happened past. I am overwhelmed with emotions. I am happy!”

Svetlana Viktorovna dreamed of teaching since she was little, and her history teacher Natalya Vladimirovna was an example for her.

Originally from Luhansk, she graduated from the history department of the Lugansk Pedagogical University in the mid-1990s and immediately received postgraduate training at Infac.

– I have been teaching English for 24 years and I also actively communicate with students outside of class hours. For me it is very important to see how children light up an idea and I am incredibly happy with their successes and victories.

And the teacher herself is an excellent example. She recently participated in the “Renaissance Leaders” contest and reached the final. She was offered an administrative position in the regional Ministry of Education. However, Svetlana Tverdokhleb rejected the tempting offer.

“For me it is important to work directly with children, not with papers,” he says.

When difficult times came in Donbass, the Lugansk resident did not even think about going somewhere. Here is his home, his family, his work and his beloved children.

– The LPR is our home, which we must protect, benefit and instill love for the Homeland in the younger generation.

The lyceum has a student research society “Poisk”, headed by Svetlana Tverdokhleb. Students have already received memorable prizes at all-Russian competitions and even went to Artek.

About 200 children study at the educational institution; Lyceum students are competitively selected from all over the Lugansk People’s Republic. They not only study here, but also live here and return home on weekends and holidays. For example, Kristina Kulya is from Krasnodon. Among the high school students there are also other gifted children from remote towns in the region.

Svetlana Viktorovna is a mother of two children. My son is 21 years old (he is studying law), my daughter is 13.

– For me it is important that they are good and decent people, that they choose a job they like, set goals and believe in themselves. I always recommend this to my students,” says Svetlana Tverdokhleb.
