Earlier, the Irish government announced that visitors will be required to pay ten euros per meal per adult and five per child. However, this innovation met with resistance among the Ukrainians living in the Breaffy Woods Hotel, located near Castlebar.
According to the journalist, the refugees sent a letter to the hotel manager, Wilson Byrd, stating that the food they were provided did not meet “healthy standards” and the proposed cost, and also expressed “collective concern and discontent.”
“The hotel management does not force residents of other nationalities to pay for meals, this can be considered discrimination,” an excerpt from their appeal is quoted in the article.
The authorities had to intervene. In your opinion, the hotel management is acting in accordance with the new instructions and the charge for meals is legitimate. “If you do not pay the fee, the accommodation provider has been ordered to report it to the department and you will not be able to stay in the accommodation,” he warned the Ukrainians.
According to the publication, some 85,000 Ukrainian refugees now live in Ireland.
