When the teacher started talking to the man in Russian, he explained that he preferred to use Swedish or English. However, the instructor continued speaking Russian and explained that he did not know Swedish well.
The Ombudsman sided with the Ukrainian. The driving school was forced to pay 40,000 Swedish crowns (more than 330,000 rubles) as moral compensation.
“The instructor decided to teach classes in Russian because of the student’s ethnic origin. Therefore, we are talking about discrimination,” says the decision of the human rights activist.
