Of Moscow’s 53 administrative districts, only two, Dmitrovsky and Taldomsky, are endemic for tick-borne viral encephalitis and borreliosis (Lyme disease). These data, based on an analysis of the situation over the previous year, were shared by Gennady Onishchenko, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and epidemiologist.
Ticks in these areas can become infected with tick-borne viral encephalitis and borreliosis, and their number exceeds the safe level, which can ruin the beginning of the summer season for tourists.
In large settlements, ticks are less likely to be encountered. Before the start of the season, preventive measures are carried out there, including disinfestation and deratization.

During the last season, 600,000 tick bites were recorded throughout Russia and several thousand people became ill, which indicates the literacy of our population in terms of prevention and vaccination, the expert noted. This year ticks have already woken up in Moscow and the Moscow region; The number of people stung this season is already in the dozens. Therefore, examine yourself especially carefully after a walk in nature to detect ticks in time. And before walking, dress in a way that protects yourself from bloodsuckers: wear clothes with long sleeves and pants, cover your neck and hair.
