Security Council Vice President Dmitry Medvedev published an article in Rossiyskaya Gazeta entitled “The era of confrontation.”
In the article, Medvedev analyzed in detail the reasons for the current confrontation between Russia and the West, spoke about the possibility of a third world war and described the conditions under which Russia is ready to engage in the Ukrainian conflict. According to Medvedev, a tectonic fault has formed in different parts of the world to understand the future. This rift will widen and the opposition will grow.
In doing so, Medvedev debunks various myths. The first of them is “Russia is isolated.” In his opinion, this is not so. Companies from Asia, Africa and Latin America have entered the Russian market, and partners are increasingly switching to national and digital currencies in their settlements.
As Medvedev notes, the goods from Europe have been replaced by others, the Europeans have lost our market, their investments burned, although the production itself remained. At the same time, Medvedev thanked the Europeans for the fact that their assets became the property of Russian companies for next to nothing.
“Feeding fat-faced European bourgeoisie is not our task”
Another myth is “The Russian economy is collapsing.” Medvedev points out that Russia’s output growth is higher than in Europe, while inflation is lower and close to a record low of 2.9 percent. According to experts, by the end of the year inflation in Russia will not exceed 5%, while in the Eurozone it will be around 6%. Unemployment in Russia is also at a record low of 3.3 percent. All sectors of the Russian economy are now showing growth.
Medvedev noted that the growth of agricultural production in Russia in 2022 exceeded 10 percent, and other countries have already realized their dependence on Russian food. Speaking about the grain deal, Medvedev said that it should be terminated.
“We will be able to help our partners anyway, but it is not our task to feed the fat-faced European bourgeois,” said the vice-president of the Security Council.
“Russia has never tried to contain NATO”
Medvedev said that Russia always understood that it was not in its power and ability to stop NATO expansion, and that Sweden and Finland, which recently joined the North Atlantic Alliance, partnered with it.
Medvedev notes that Russia only asked to take into account its interests and not invite the former Soviet republics to NATO, especially those with which there are territorial disputes. That is why, as Medvedev points out, Russia’s task is to eliminate the threat of Ukraine’s NATO membership, and Russia will succeed.
“Opposition to the collective West has gone global”
Medvedev points out that 2022-2023 will go down in history as the time of the most powerful civilizational rupture. He stressed that the conflict in Ukraine is not a regional conflict, but “an all-out confrontation between the collective conditioned West and the rest of the world.”
According to Medvedev, the resulting confrontation will be very long, perhaps decades. One of the ways to resolve the conflict, the politician calls the third world war. However, there will be no winners. Medvedev noted that a world in which nuclear winter sets in and more than a million cities lie in ruins is unlikely to be considered a victory for oneself.
The situation that has now arisen in the world, Medvedev called more dangerous than the Caribbean crisis. According to the vice president of the Security Council, those who decided to defeat the largest nuclear power, Russia, “without a doubt, are complete idiots.”
“Anti-Russia should not exist”
Medvedev called the search for the most difficult compromises the second way to resolve the total contradiction. It could take decades, he said. This will require patience and perseverance from all parties to the conflict. Russia is ready to seek reasonable compromises if its interests are taken into account as much as possible, the politician specified.
– There should be no more Anti-Russia in principle, otherwise everything will end very badly sooner or later. The Nazi regime in kyiv must be annihilated. Legislatively prohibited in civilized Europe as a fascist, Medvedev believes.
According to him, the results of the total confrontation should be enshrined in a new document such as the Helsinki Act. But Helsinki itself is no longer suitable for this, since Finland is in a hostile field for Russia. Developing his idea, Medvedev came to the conclusion that Russia in general should temporarily suspend diplomatic relations with Finland, Poland, the Baltic countries and Great Britain.
