A new scam has led the Ministry of the Interior in Spain to publish an alert to prevent the number of possible victims from rising. This is an email that invites you to verify that you are one of those chosen to form part of a polling station in the general elections on July 23.
In reality, it is an identity theft scam from the Ministry of the Interior itself and the scam consists of getting you to click on the link contained in the email to get hold of all your personal data.
“In the following button you can check your data, as well as verify if you have been called to a polling station,” reads the email that the scammers pose as the Ministry of the Interior.
‼️ WITHOUT PICKS ‼️
If you receive a message like the one in the image, be clear that it is not sent to you by @interiorgob
🟦This is a #phishing attempt: DO NOT CLICK

Interior has alerted this Monday through this tweet of the existence of this scam and has asked that “do not click”, at the same time that it remembers that the notification of the polling station arrives by certified mail at the address and not by e-mail.
“As you well know, the general elections of the Government of Spain will be held on July 23. Your participation is of unquestionable importance, since the creation of a government depends on it,” explains the fraudulent email, which then proceeds to incite the voter to click on the button that will redirect you to your data.
According to the Ministry, it is a “phishing” attempt, a technique in which they send emails that impersonate official institutions and companies to steal users’ personal and bank details.
