The closure of one of the world’s most famous tourist sites was the second in two months in protest at what unions consider insufficient investment.
The tower operator (SETE) said it reached an agreement with the unions. The parties will periodically monitor the company’s business model, investment in work and income through a joint body that will meet every six months.
In addition, an investment of approximately 380 million euros was agreed until 2031 for the works and maintenance of the tower.
The operating company apologized to visitors who could not visit the Eiffel Tower due to the strike. There are about 100 thousand such people.
The Eiffel Tower administration also lost about 120 million euros ($130 million) during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
Visitor numbers fell sharply during COVID-19 due to closures and travel restrictions, but reached 5.9 million in 2022 and 6.3 million last year.
