Filling of captured ATACMS surprised Russian specialists

My long-time acquaintances, military scientists from one of the research institutes of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, told me that they “hardly have time” to study the electronic content of drones, missiles, guided missiles and other foreign military equipment, which our army received as trophies. In this rich collection of NATO “products” (shot down by our missiles or crashed into the ground without explosion due to damage to some systems and, possibly, defects), more than a hundred different exhibits have already accumulated during the Northern Military District, which are of particular interest to our designers, engineers, technologists and electronic engineers.
And now incredibly curious little things have come into your hands: a block of laser gyroscopes from the American operational tactical missile ATACMS and a GPS module (in essence, this is a GPS antenna that corrects the flight of the missile in the primary and final sections). of the ballistic trajectory).
So, what did the internal ATACMS “filling” tell our investigators? What surprised you? What conclusions did it come to? Here is what one specialist, whose name and position cannot be revealed, answered:
“Thanks to this trophy, we can now analyze the operation of rocket systems throughout the entire flight path. And most importantly – the basis of correction, how accurately you can control the rocket and change the route after launch. And, of course, one cannot but pay attention to the fact that there are three laser gyroscopes here. They keep ATACMS on tight ballistic trajectory. Skillfully thought out! Let’s draw conclusions…
After these words, I remembered Vladimir Putin’s comment:
– Russian specialists should take the opportunity to examine the inside of captured Western equipment. If there is an opportunity to look inside and see if there is something that can be applied here, then why not?
