On October 12, the Pioneer film company will premiere in Russia the film “The Cage Searches for a Bird”, directed by Malika Musaeva, a graduate of Alexander Sokurov’s Caucasian workshop.
The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2023. Premiere in Russia – at the international film festival “Spirit of Fire”: Malika Musaeva’s film received the main prize at the competition Russian debuts. Lead actress Khadija Bataeva received the Alexander Abdulov award for best actress.
The plot of the film tells about a girl, Yakha, who lives in a small town and spends her days with her friend Madina. Girls dream of leaving their homes after graduating from school and going out into the big world to live the life they choose. The image is a collage of stories about the fate of several women, in which each of them tries to defend her right to choose her future path.
