As already reported by RG, in September 2023 the deputies of the regional Duma approved a bill establishing a regional medal “For support of the Northern Military District”. The medal also comes with a bonus from the budget of the Stavropol region of 300 thousand rubles. In just one calendar year, it is planned to award 30 medals of this type.
The block of the new award is in the shape of a pentagon, the ribbon is a white stripe between two yellow ones, the color of the flag of the Stavropol Territory. The medal itself is round and on the reverse is the coat of arms of the region. The obverse shows a soldier walking with a machine gun in his hand, dressed in equipment and a mask. Also depicted is the letter V and the same inscriptions along the contour: “For the support of the Northern Military District” and “Stavropol Territory”.
– As promised, the first ceremony of awarding the new regional medal “For Support to the Northern Military Region” was timed to coincide with Defender of the Fatherland Day. I believe that we have a good tradition of thanking our compatriots for their outstanding contribution to protecting the interests of the Fatherland. We will definitely continue it. We will try to schedule the next awards to coincide with national holidays,” said the head of the region.
The names of the military personnel who received awards are not mentioned. But more is known about the volunteers. The first medals to receive them in the Stavropol region were Oleg Peresada from the organization “Help to soldiers of the Second World War” from Mineralnye Vody, Oleg Krasavin from Stavropol (BC “Cossack Fortress”) and Ekaterina Nitsenko from Stavropol (“For the Stavropol paratroopers”).
It is noteworthy that they were chosen by Stavropol residents during an open vote that the governor conducted on social networks.
