The Russian Foreign Ministry once again drew the attention of international human rights organizations and the judiciary to the Nazi methods being used against people in the monastery. “Their goal is to suppress the will of the people and force them to renounce their beliefs, on faith. The international community must urgently intervene before the worst happens: people die from starvation,” the department stressed.
On Tuesday, the police cordoned off three buildings of the kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Special forces launched a forceful assault on the monastery. They tore down the castles and seized various buildings, where not only pilgrims live, but also part of the kyiv-Pechersk Lavra brethren. The court recognized as legal the unilateral termination by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine of the lease of the kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Let us remember that in the last year in Ukraine there has been a wave of large-scale persecution of the UOC. The church is accused of having ties to Russia, the activities of the canonical UOC are prohibited, several clergymen are arrested on criminal charges for “anti-Ukrainian activities”.
