Israeli social media blew up a video filmed near the southern wall of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. It depicts an ordinary fox running somewhere.
The appearance of this animal in the ancient city caused real rejoicing among the religious Jews, since it was the fox mentioned in the Old Testament prophecy.
In the treatise “Makot” there is a story: four rabbis ended up in the destroyed Jerusalem temple, sacred to the Jews. At that moment, a fox jumped out of the ruins. Three clerics burst into tears and the fourth, Rabbi Akiva, laughed. He explained his laughter with an ancient prophecy: in the “Lamentations of Jeremiah” there are lines that the prophet Uriah once said: foxes will settle on the ruins of the Temple Mount; and the prophet Zechariah added later: after the appearance of the foxes, Jerusalem will rise in all its ancient splendor. “Now that Uriah’s prophecy has been fulfilled, it is certain that Zechariah’s prophecy will also come true,” Akiva said.
And now in Israel they are convinced that since the fox appeared on the Temple Mount, it is worth waiting for the fulfillment of Zechariah’s prophecy.
However, it is worth noting that this is not the first time foxes have been seen near and on the Temple Mount.
