The department explained that the criminal group consisted of former and current employees of PJSC Rosseti Northern Caucasus, its branch Dagenergo and contractors.
According to investigators, they were involved in the theft of 2.8 billion rubles from the budget, which were intended for the creation of an automated electricity metering system in Dagestan. The project included installing meters that remotely transmit information about energy consumption, but the system was never put into operation.
A total of nine people were arrested in the case.
It was also reported that to stop the gang, security forces used the Falcatus armored vehicle, developed for the Russian FSB special forces.
