Now instead of kyiv there will be Kyjiw. It should be noted that the new name will be used to designate the capital of Ukraine in official correspondence, texts and reference materials.
The German Foreign Ministry noted that a gradual change is taking place in the spelling of kyiv’s name. This applies to embassy websites and posters, RIA Novosti writes citing the publication.
Previously, in 2019, the US Council on Geographic Names decided to replace the names of the capital of Ukraine in the international database from kyiv to kyiv.
