The Penza region has been fruitfully cooperating with Astana for more than 10 years. Agreements on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation were signed between the government of the region and the akimat of the city of Astana, with the regions of West Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan.
– The youngest capital in just a quarter of a century has become one of the most modern and entered the list of the 30 best cities in the world, – noted Oleg Melnichenko during his visit to Astana.
The participation of the delegation of the region in the international forum contributed to the solution of the problems of expansion of mutual cooperation. Prospects for further cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Oleg Melnichenko and Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires in Kazakhstan, Alexander Komarov.
– Kazakhstan plays an important role for our country in the current economic conditions, and the Penza region takes an active part in establishing cooperation, – emphasized Alexander Komarov. – We have a rather serious intensification of contacts, including political ones, at the highest level. Our common task is to promote positive conditions for relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, to expand the existing ones and to establish new areas of joint work.
One of the key areas of cooperation should be the agro-industrial complex.
– Our companies are actively working with organizations from Kazakhstan, this is evidenced by the export figures. Since the beginning of the year, it has already exceeded one billion rubles. It is planned to increase the volume of sales of spare parts for diesel locomotives, modern household appliances, cabinet furniture. Our partners show great interest in equipment for the production, repair and testing of pipeline valves.
In 2022, of the total volume of exports, the volume of supplies from the region to the Republic of Kazakhstan exceeded 22 percent, which confirms the great prospects for further development of trade and economic relations. In 2022, the region’s trade turnover with the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to more than 5 billion rubles, and the positive dynamics has been maintained for 4 months of this year.
The work program of the delegation of the Penza region in Astana was designed for two days. Oleg Melnichenko is expected to deliver a speech at the Twin Cities Forum and participate in the plenary session. There was also a visit to the Astana International Financial Center and the Astana Hub IT start-up technology park.
Penza Region Governor Oleg Melnichenko and Astana Mayor Zhenis Kasymbek planted trees near the Nur-Alem Museum of Future Energy as a token of friendship. The event was also attended by members of the Penza delegation: Vice President of the regional government Alexei Kostin, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the region Sergei Bychkov, head of Penza Alexander Basenko, deputy of the Legislative Assembly Artem Spiridonov. Memorial plaques are installed next to the trees, so that all Penza residents who come to Kazakhstan can recognize their “native” poplar.
– This action is a symbol of the development of brotherly relations between the regions, – emphasized Oleg Melnichenko. – 10 years ago the cooperation agreement between the government of the Penza region and the Astana akimat was signed. Now the time has come to expand interaction, strengthen cultural and economic ties. This will give new impetus to the development of our regions.
