“Our agricultural companies have started preparing feed for winter. This year we will have to produce more than 350 thousand tons of hay and silage,” said the head of the region. “I am sure that our farmers, as always, will get ahead. with the homework”.
Viacheslav Gladkov noted that the acquisition of fodder is an important and responsible stage of seasonal field work. The success of livestock farmers’ work in the future depends on the work of today’s machine operators. To meet the needs of livestock farming, farmers in the region will have to prepare 46.7 thousand tons of hay and 309 thousand tons of forage from perennial and annual grasses this year. The works have already begun in almost all municipalities.
5.4 thousand hectares or 16 percent of the planned area of perennial grasses and 1.6 thousand hectares or one tenth of annual grasses have already been mown. 318 tons of hay and 34.1 thousand tons of silage were harvested. The total area of pasture in the Belgorod region is about 100 thousand hectares.
