One of the mechanisms to implement this program could be “Fish Thursdays” like those adopted in the Soviet Union.
– I think it would be possible to restore them. This will allow us to reorient the fishing industry towards the domestic market and provide our citizens with useful and valuable food resources and will significantly contribute to improving health,” Solodov said.
The head of the Kamchatka Territory stressed that the inhabitants of Russia began to eat less fish.
– This trend is especially pronounced among young people, – continued Vladimir Solodov. – I would like to cite data from VTsIOM that only half of young people eat fish at least once a month, and this figure has decreased by 2.5 times over the past five years.
The program to stimulate the consumption of fish products may, according to Solodov, include measures such as limiting the purchase of imported fish in the public sector, stimulating the production of finished products, as well as social advertising.
In response to Solodov’s proposal, Vladimir Putin replied that “to think about creating a system of measures, a set of measures to stimulate domestic consumption of fish products, of course, it is possible and even necessary to do this, of course.”
