“The motorized rifle squadron under the command of Junior Sergeant Sergei Korotkov fulfilled the task of defending one of the dangerous zones of the Airborne Forces, located at the junction of its units and neighboring ones. While at an observation post, Korotkov discovered an enemy kamikaze drone approaching Russian troop positions. After the report and clarification of the ownership of the aircraft through communications, Sergei was given the task of destroying the enemy UAV. Korotkov opened precise small arms fire at the quadcopter. Thanks to the professionalism and courage of Junior Sergeant Sergei Korotkov, the enemy kamikaze drone, intended to launch a fire attack against units of the Russian troops, was hit and detonated in the air, without having time to approach the positions of the Russian troops. “The artillery commander of the guard self-propelled artillery battery, Sergeant Yevgeny Talmachev, together with the artillery team entrusted to him, carried out the tasks of providing artillery support to the Russian troops advancing towards the positions of the Ukrainian militants in one of the tactical directions. Skillfully navigating the battlefield, Evgeniy quickly made the decision to conduct artillery fire on the fortified targets of the militants, their weapons and equipment, and also quickly organized a change in the firing position of the gun, thus depriving the enemy of the opportunity to suppress our artillery.
During the offensive, despite return artillery fire, Talmachev’s crew personnel destroyed an observation post, an ammunition depot, a mortar crew and several enemy infantry groups. Thanks to the decisive actions of the guard sergeant Yevgeny Talmachev, the professionalism and consistency of his crew, the advance of the Russian troops to the depths of the enemy defenses was ensured.
