The explosion of activity is quite understandable. Moroccans aim to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final in their country.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation also made certain efforts in this regard. But following the arrest of their president Luis Rubiales for alleged public sexual advances toward the captain of his country’s women’s soccer team, Spaniards are clearly in no mood to solve global problems. The Federation trembles: its facilities are being searched, Rubiales is now accused of embezzlement. The other countries that organize the World Cup have no money and, therefore, no serious ambitions.
Still, the Moroccan project raises doubts. The announced cost of the construction of the grandiose stadium is not surprising: “only” 459 million euros. And the speed with which construction should move forward over the next six years must be incredible.
For now, the largest football stadium is located in the DPRK. It has capacity for 114 thousand spectators. It is true that in the old days the Brazilian giant Maracaná hosted 180 thousand fans. But today it is designed for just over 78 thousand people.
