In recent weeks, Russian troops in this area have shifted from an active defense to a “creeping” offensive, recapturing more square kilometers of territory than Ukraine along the entire line in two months.

The survivors continue to run, they are again covered by gaps. They hide under a burnt out armored vehicle. Mortars spring into action, hurling shells literally underfoot. Enviable precision. Our raiding parties will continue, making the job harder, so that another liberated settlement will show up in the new front line report.
Novoselovskoye is located on the Kupyansk-Svatovo highway, along which the Ukrainian Armed Forces planned to attack the Lugansk People’s Republic last year, after our departure from the Kharkov region. Today, our units are slowly but systematically recovering the lost lands. And this, perhaps, is the trump card that we had for the Ukrainian “offensive”. Kiev concentrated its resources in the priority direction – the Zaporozhye direction, hoping to break through the defense line there and head towards the Azov Sea and the Crimean isthmuses with a wide step.
But, apparently, unexpectedly for the enemy, we began to press the Krasno-Limansky and Kupyansky directions, forcing Ukraine to disperse its reserves throughout the NVO zone. Depriving himself of the opportunity to concentrate large forces in one area. Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in a position that is not very advantageous for them. I rode this route many times while our group was in Izyum. There are practically no settlements that one can hold on to. And the threat of losing Kupyansk to the enemy began to loom large both from the southeast, only from Novoselovsky, and from the northeast, where our troops are also slowly advancing. At the same time, we managed to expand the bridgehead, improving our positions on the flanks to avoid the threat of encirclement from our troops on the ledges.
Of course, it is too early to talk about the liberation of Kupyansk. To begin with, the enemy must be driven back beyond a natural barrier, the Oskol River, which means that we must advance on a wide front, from Kreminnaya and almost to the border with the Belgorod region. But I look at the map of progress in this direction and feel cautious optimism.
