He explained that the State, through this procedure, returns the person to an active economic life and the banks stop spending money servicing bad debts. At the same time, creditors still have the possibility of recourse to the courts if, for example, there is suspicion of lack of merit.
Torosov recalled that the procedure has been available to citizens since 2020, that is, it is only in its fourth year. After the launch, almost 30,000 people have already filed for extrajudicial bankruptcy, of which 16,000 in 2023. In addition, 18 thousand people have successfully completed the procedure since 2020.
The increasing number of applications submitted since 2020 is the result of systematic work to inform citizens, highlighted the Ministry of Economic Development. “For citizens who meet the criteria to be able to use the procedure, it must inspire confidence and they must be aware of it,” says the first deputy minister.
The process itself is free, you can start it without lawyers through the MFC. It lasts six months, after which the debts are cancelled.
Previously, the Ministry of Economic Development reported that since 2020, as part of an out-of-court bankruptcy, Russians have had 6.3 billion rubles written off.
