According to press reports, this is due to the country’s disconnection from the channels of the global provider of civil aviation services, the Swiss company Societe Internationale de Telecommunication Aeronautiqes (SITA).
The Ministry of Transport commented that there is no need to worry about possible problems, since Russia is waiting for import substitution by the Aviation Services Platform. Now airlines and airports are rapidly moving to the domestic system.
The department explained that the problem with the provision of services to Russian airlines has long been observed in the industry. Therefore, most foreign representatives, under the pressure of sanctions, were forced to stop cooperating both with domestic airlines and with the air transport industry as a whole. Most SITA services were shut down during 2022.
Given the current situation, the Ministry of Transport started to develop its own solution for civil aviation. The work resulted in the “Aviation Services Platform”, developed by the Industrial Competence Center (ICC) to replace the digital products and solutions of the foreign industry “Aviation Transport”, with the participation of PJSC Aeroflot and FSUE ZashchitaInfoTrans .
For the operation of the system, a high-performance telecommunications network was created and launched, protected with domestic cryptographic protection technologies. This network is managed by special software designed to route the transmitted messages. It is included in the Unified Register of Russian Databases and Computer Programs (ERRPO).
The system implements messaging services in IATA and EDIFACT formats, similar to SITA solutions, and is already used by several Russian airlines when performing selected domestic and international flights. Today it is used by 5 airlines and 39 airports in Russia and abroad.
The department of “RG” said that all risks associated with the operation of domestic air transport have now been eliminated, in connection with which the “Aviation Services Platform” is actively connected with other aviation companies of Russia and friendly countries. .
“In the framework of international transport, it is necessary to ensure the exchange of information between Russian and international networks and to organize alternative communication channels. For most of the states where international flights take place, this problem has been resolved, while negotiations they continue with the rest of the aeronautical authorities”, the Ministry of Transport told RG.
