The monument to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow was dismantled to be moved to a new location KXan 36 Daily News

The other day in the capital they dismantled the monument “To the Warriors of the Moscow Fat Plant, who died during the Great Patriotic War.”

The industrial zone, like many others in Moscow, is now being built up with housing. Only a monument remained of the plant, but they decided to dismantle it to move it to another place.

Judging by the photo on social networks, the analysis of the monument was carried out ugly, incorrectly.

A message appeared on the website of the prefecture of the South-Eastern Administrative District that “the developer will transfer the monument to the Moscow Fat Plant Warriors who died during the Great Patriotic War” during the improvement period. It is noted that around the monument, which was dismantled “according to technological maps”, a square will be landscaped and a place for ceremonies and flower placement will be set up, but 180 meters from its original location.

The monuments of our country are moved regularly. Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square were transferred from Upper Trading Rows (GUM) in the 1930s to St. Basil’s Cathedral. Pushkin, at about the same time, was transferred to the opposite side of Tverskaya and placed on the site of the demolished Strastnoy Monastery. The sad pre-revolutionary Gogol from the boulevard named after him was moved to the nearby courtyard, replaced by a Soviet one.

If we talk about the monuments that perpetuate the memory of the Great Patriotic War, then one of the most resonant was the transfer of the Hedgehog monument on the Leningradskoye highway before entering Moscow. They interfered in the construction of an interchange near the Ikea shopping center…

– There is a problem of analysis and transfer of monuments. And this problem is serious, – says the People’s Artist of Russia, the sculptor Dmitry Tugarinov. – Monuments, as on the territory of the Moscow Fat Plant, were installed on the territory of many enterprises. Now many of them are gone, but the monuments remain. And no one is responsible for them. For more than 30 years, all Soviet ties have been severed, and no new ones have arisen. We live, one might say, according to the residual principle.

Tugarinov compares the current situation with ancient times, when the tribes captured Rome and destroyed the monuments:

– Only some did it consciously, because they did not like it and understood what exactly they were destroying, while others simply did not see the value of the monuments and let them go for the construction of foundations or other needs. We often have the same situation. The monument on the territory of the plant does not belong to the city, and if the owner of the territory does something, then on his own initiative. And in this story, thank you for not quietly dumping the remains of the monument in a dumpster. Further, they will install it, updated, albeit in a new place.

The restoration will take two weeks and they are going to inaugurate the monument in a new place at the end of August.
